With the growth of tourism, globalization and increase in trade and commercial activities worldwide, English is a very important subject for young children to learn. Often, a good ability to read and write in English will mean they can secure seats in good universities and later get well paid jobs. Although the local standard of English quite good in Tanzania, the poor who have to learn the language in schools, since it is not their native language, often find it hard to grasp the language. To make the matter worst, these schools the children of poor families attend are resource poor and can’t afford to hire well trained and experience teachers. Hence, our volunteers will help the children to improve their English skills. You’ll hold debates and discussions and also teach according to official curricular to make the children confident and capable of believing in them.
What difference does this project make?
By teaching English and other subjects if the volunteers want, you’ll be helping the children build their careers. Many students have benefits from volunteer teachers and many of them have gone on to get good grades and study in good universities. The contribution from volunteers is for all to see.
