Volunteer Name: Ines Marina de Albuquerque, volunteer project: Elephant conservation, Project Country: Sri Lanka
The home stay was very nice. The family very good and I gave them lots of gifts including for her sister and nieces as well. Because the wife had been very friendly and I also bought for her a Sari like mine. In the elephant orphanage, the coordinator was very friendly and professional. I got to be on the elephant and clean their enclosures, which was sometimes not so nice. The bathing part was more fun but we did not get to do that daily because the mahots needed to be very carefully with us on top of the elephant. All the project staff always had smiles on the faces and greeted me everyday. That made the program so much special.
