A lot of children in South Africa have ended up living in streets. They have no future while they live in the streets and will easily fall for bad company and get caught into illegal activities. These children can contribute a lot for the nation provided that they get timely rehabilitation, safety and education. When you volunteer with New Hope, you can help these children get away from the street with variety of activities.
What difference does this project make?
This project aims at rehabilitating street children back in their families so as to provide them a normal childhood. Your help can boost these children’s self esteem. They will grow up to be productive citizens of the country and lead South Africa towards a better future.
Highlights of the program
In addition to day-to-day support, street children project also offers courses concerning life-skills, performing arts, career development, leadership training and entrepreneurial skills. Volunteers’ daily activities may include teaching English, helping with homework and teaching basic conversational English. Volunteers will help with supporting recreational and artistic activities with the objective of educational learning (i.e. reading stories, performing puppet shows, caring for and playing with the children or organizing and developing sports activities). Additional assistance is needed with supporting in the kitchen/helping to serve lunch in the dining room and assisting with location-specific duties: routine building maintenance, construction, etc.
Project location
This project is located in Cape Town, the legislative capital of South Africa.
