This project deals with providing assistance for disabled people, students with special education needs and senior citizens. Different kinds of physical and mental disabilities like cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, water heads, hemiplegic, hearing, speech, sight, autism, Fetal Alcohol Syndrom and Tuberculosis need to be addressed by our volunteers.
Special education is provided for students who have learning disabilities and short attention spans. These learners are divided into groups according to their functionality and a group of teachers work in helping these students. Volunteers can assist in these classes as per the requirement. Lastly, volunteers willing to work for senior citizens can assist in physical stimulation classes.
What difference does this project make?
This project aims at helping the disabled (physically as well as mentally), providing special education for students struggling with learning disabilities, and assisting senior citizens with their day to day activities. In addition to helping people with disabilities, this project will also prove essential in creating friendly environment for these disabled in the society. Volunteering in this project will be a very self-satisfying experience.
Highlights of the program
While assisting in the classes for the learning disabled, physically or mentally challenged people or caring for the elderly, volunteers can also help to monitor as well as superve the program. There are a varied range of programs volunteers can choose from as per their interests. Volunteers looking for varied volunteering experiences can assist us with other projects in the outskirts of Cape Town. Multi-tasking i.e. working in more than one projects at the same time is also possible for volunteers wanting to do so.
