There are different conservation projects in Peru for volunteers to work. In the forested areas of Peru, especially in the highlands, there aren’t enough manpower to handle conservation work. Volunteers will aid the project staffs complete their work by working together with them. Volunteers can work in projects like keeping inventories in biodiversity area, sanitation campaigns, reforestation and eco-tourism.
What difference does this project make?
The environment of Peru is very fragile and there aren’t enough manpower to enforce strict environmental regulations. Volunteers will also help maintain trails, plant trees, and do many other environmental tasks which ensure the forest cover of some of the areas in Peru aren’t depleted and many other projects like eco-tourism gains momentum.
Highlights of the program
You’ll work in pristine areas of Peru in and around spectacular Andean areas. You’ll work with local people and save trees and other eco-system from being destroyed. In the process, you’ll also enjoy the hospitalities of local people. In your free time, you can explore Peruvian rainforests and fascinating mountains.
Project location
Volunteer projects are located in Cusco, a city in southeastern Peru, near the Urubamba Valley of the Andes mountain range. In 2007, the city had a population of 358,935 and the city is located on the eastern end of the Knot of Cusco, its altitude is around 3,400 m. You can find many bars, restaurants, cafes, museums and parks in the city. |
