Nepal is a third world country and has a high percentage of the population living in grinding poverty. Many orphan children have nowhere to turn to except to the orphanages as there is no help from the government. The family members of the orphaned children are also often unable to raise them as they themselves are poor and struggle to survive daily. The orphanages in the Nepal do a great job of raising the children. They provide the children with food, shelter, decent clothes to wear and send them to schools. But the orphanages themselves are always short of funds and volunteers to help the children. Under these circumstances, volunteers will provide much needed assistance in the orphanages. You’ll teach the children English and other subjects and provide them with much needed care and love.
What Difference Does This Project Make?
Volunteers will make a big different by helping the children during the program. You’ll teach them English and other subjects, help the children finish their homework, organize games and other activities, make sure the children eat and sleep well and wear clean clothes. The orphanages are short staffed as they lack the funds to hire staffs permanently and depend upon volunteers to take care of the children. So the orphanages are in fact desperate for volunteers.
Program Highlights
Through the program, volunteers will immerse in local Nepali culture, learn local language so that you can communicate more effectively with the local, become involved in orientation program about Nepal, and teach and help the children of either Kathmandu or a small rural town in Chitwan. During the cultural immersion program, you’ll also tour historical and tourist sites of Nepal, take part in white water rafting and ride on the backs of an elephants on the jungles of Chitwan to search for tigers and rhinos.

As you travel south from there, you’ll pass countless snow fed rivers, deep ravines and gorges, green valleys and panorama of hills after hills. Nepal eventually ends on the flat plans that border India. In these lands, countless ethnic groups with their multitude of language and unique culture thrive. The project is located in Kathmandu, the capital and the largest city in Kathmandu, and also in Chitwan, a small rural town on the south of Nepal.
