For the orphaned children Kenya, there is very little option and help for them except to look for orphanages that are willing to take them in. Due to death from diseases like HIV/AIDS, thousands of children become orphans in Kenya every year. The orphanages are full and struggle to house, feed, clothe and educate the children. But these orphanages are the last hope of the orphaned children and by volunteering in the orphanage, you’ll make sure the children are well taken good care. You’ll teach them, care of them, provide them with love and make them confident and capable of seeing that they have a bright future.
What difference does this project make?
Through the project, the orphanages are able to stay afloat and educate, house, feed and clothe the children. The small sum the orphanage receives for hosting the volunteers will go a long way towards making them financially viable. Also, the work the volunteers will do, in teaching, caring, loving the children and cleaning the place will also ensure that orphanages runs smoothly and also ensure the children will start to believe in themselves.
Highlights of the program
Learn about the country by taking language classes and orientation and living with a host family. Support the orphans with educational, cultural and program related to sports. In your free time, you can visit the savannas of Kenya that are teaming with wildlife.
Project location
Your projects are situated in Mombasa and Nairobi. You will stay with a host family and learn much about Kenyan culture. Food and room will be basic and you’ll be serve local meals 3 times a day. Mombasa and Nairobi are both modern cities and have good infrastructure facilities but they also contain large slums where the poorest of the poor leave. Our supervisor will also contact you regularly to make sure you are happy and satisfied.
