Healthcare in Kenya is expensive and unaffordable for extremely poor. In rural areas, the healthcare facilities still simply do not exist. People have to travel far and wide and that is the reason why people are still dying of treatable disease. There are campaigns to stop this from happening. Our volunteers will work with local doctors and nurses to treat poor patients.
What difference does this project make?
The project treats people who simply can’t afford treatment. Volunteers will also help local doctors and nurses who are often overwhelmed by the number of patients they receive. Through your help, more people will be treated and cured.
Highlights of the program
Learn about the country by taking language classes and orientation and live with a host family to learn about the local culture and traditions. Lend a hand in rural health clinics and hospitals and treat patients. In your free time, you can visit the savannas of Kenya that are teaming with wildlife.
Project location
Your projects are situated in Mombasa and Nairobi. You will stay with a host family and learn much about Kenyan culture. Food and room will be basic and you’ll be serve local meals 3 times a day. Mombasa and Nairobi are both modern cities and have good infrastructure facilities but they also contain large slums where the poorest of the poor leave. Our supervisor will also contact you regularly to make sure you are happy and satisfied.
