New Hope offers various construction projects where volunteers can participate in constructing orphanages or school buildings. Due to the lack of proper infrastructure, children find it hard to concentrate on studies. The schools cannot offer quality education and the orphans live in poor conditions. Construction activities are physically demanding, and include digging, removing dirt, carrying bricks, mixing cement, plastering, painting, cleaning and various other works related to construction. Construction volunteers help build and reinforce the country’s physical stability in order to develop and secure its robust future!
What difference does this project make?
The project ensures well being of children by building well equipped schools and orphanages for them. Construction project also enables children find a safer place to study as well as to stay. By doing all this, this project contributes in making children have a brighter future themselves.

Construction projects are led and organized by a local foreman who will determine specific work projects and guide volunteers with efforts. Also, in your free time, you can take a tour around the city and enjoy the beautiful city of Guatemala and Xela.
Project location
Our project in Guatemala is located in Antigua. The city likes in the central highlands and is famous for Baroque architecture and number of spectacular ruins of colonial churches. Antigua is close to Guatemala City and is much calmer and safer. It is possible to take buses from Antigua to many parts of Guatemala. Antigua is located in the tropics and therefore has nice weather all year long. Its high elevation keeps the city from getting too hot in the summer, the average daytime temperature all year 'round being in the 70's, unlike some other parts of the country which are closer to sea level and which can become very hot and humid. |
